Europe’s top industrialists hail EU-Japan trade deal
The European Round Table of Industrialists has praised today’s EU-Japan outline trade deal as a boost for open, fair and free trade at a time of concern over the rise in protectionism. The ERT brings together more than 50 Chief Executives and Chairmen of major European multinational companies.
This ambitious agreement provides a vital statement on the need for more openness, strong global trade flows and high standards on the eve of the G20 summit in Hamburg. The European Union has proved itself to be a strong, capable negotiator and the removal of barriers on virtually all goods and services to and from Japan will be mutually beneficial. Given concerns around the rise in isolationism and protectionism, it is essential to maintain and strengthen economic ties with the rest of the world so that we can maintain a vibrant and innovative industry.
