Letter of support as European leaders meet at a Special European Council

In the run-up to a Special European Council, ERT has written to Chancellor Merkel (as leader of the country currently holding the Presidency of the EU Council) and to all of the Heads of EU Member States stating its position of the some of the key topics under discussion and restating its support for the European project. The letter addresses the following:

  • The Recovery Instrument and the Multi-annual Financial Framework (MFF)
  • The need to remove further barriers in the Single Market
  • Implementation of the new EU Industrial Strategy with KPIs
  • Digital Transformation needs as much attention as the Green Deal
  • The Green Deal’s climate benefits and underlying opportunities
  • Commitment to cooperation to boost employability in Europe
  • External relations need a proactive strategic approach & geopolitical leadership
  • ERT’s belief in the EU’s ability to emerge from this crisis stronger

ERT is currently working on initiatives and publications which address several of these topics, due for release in the coming months.
