ERT Letter to the European Council ahead of the Summit on 29 & 30 June 2023

The European Council Summit in the last days of June will take stock of the EU’s progress in strengthening the its competitiveness in the global context.

The Competitiveness package announced by the European Commission in March 2023 is possibly the EU’s most significant attempt to shape an EU industrial policy. The speed at which other world regions are advancing makes the issue of the EU’s competitiveness all the more urgent.

In this letter  to President Michel, European Commission President von der Leyen and all the various Heads of State/Heads of Governments across the EU-27, ERT shares a summary of its evaluation of the measures announced in March 2023 and voices its concerns about the aspects that remain unaddressed.
