Mr. Gooch Gálvez took over as ERT Secretary General at the start of the current EU political cycle, coinciding with the release of seminal reports by Enrico Letta and Mario Draghi. He helped ERT drive the push for implementation of concrete measures to restore the competitiveness of European business and industry in a global context. These efforts were reflected in EU’s One Europe One Market Roadmap.
His combination of EU and international experience proved an asset at a time of geopolitical upheaval, including testing times for the Transatlantic relationship and relations with China. It also proved valuable in supporting ERT’s efforts to secure Europe’s industrial base through a close alignment between industrial & competition policy in the context of Single Market completion, and an ambitious and pragmatic approach to trade and economic security with partners beyond Europe.
He led the organisation’s work across five EU Presidencies of the European Council and oversaw ERT Plenaries in Madrid, Rome, London and Gothenburg.
The new ERT Secretary General will be announced shortly.
On behalf of ERT Members, I would like to thank Anthony for his important contribution to help us raise the level of our engagement and influence with the EU institutions and key stakeholders in a crucial phase of implementation of the competitiveness and Single Market completion agenda since coming on board in 2024. I am especially appreciative of his support to me since I took over as Chair last May. We wish him every success for the future.
It has been both a pleasure and privilege to work so closely with Europe’s top business leaders and my team in pushing Europe to make the qualitative leap in the economic integration necessary to generate the growth and prosperity its unique model depends on. ERT will be critical to delivering on the brighter future for Europe we all have so much invested in.”
