Dr. Dominik von Achten studied Law and Economics at the universities of Freiburg and Munich. After passing the Second State Examination in Law, he worked as an assessor at the Higher Regional Court of Munich and the Regional Court of Traunstein. In 1996, he earned his doctorate in Economic Policy.
Professional Career

Dr. von Achten worked at The Boston Consulting Group from 1996 to September 2007, where he held various leadership positions, including assignments abroad in New York and Helsinki. As a responsible partner and managing director at The Boston Consulting Group, he led the successful execution of the “win” project at Heidelberg Materials. Dr. von Achten was appointed to the Managing Board of Heidelberg Materials on October 1, 2007, and was responsible for the UK and the integration of Hanson until the end of 2008.

From January 2009 to March 2016, he took on the responsibility for the North America Group area. Effective February 1, 2015, Dr. von Achten was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board. From April 2016 to January 2020, he was responsible for the Western and Southern Europe Group area and for the group-wide coordination of the Competence Center Materials. From January 2017 to August 2021, he served as Chief Digital Officer, overseeing Digital Transformation and Digital Ventures.

Since February 1, 2020, Dr. von Achten has been the Chairman of the Managing Board of Heidelberg Materials. On the Managing Board, he has direct responsibility for the areas of Strategy and Development, Communications & Investor Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and Group Audit.
