The EU Single Market, established in 1993, is one of the European Union’s greatest achievements – a cornerstone of European prosperity. It allows the free movement of goods, services, capital, and people across member states, fostering economic integration and political cohesion. Today, it supports over 450 million citizens and millions of businesses, enabling access to a vast, unified market. For companies, it reduces costs and increases competitiveness; for citizens, it offers more choices, job opportunities, and consumer protections – however, it remains incomplete.
ERT is a longstanding advocate for the completion of the Single Market – contributing significant evidence to recent consultations and vocally supporting Enrico Letta’s report and the Single Market strategy, while calling for more scope and faster implementation.
