Robert O’Meara appointed to new Communications role at ERT
ERT announces the latest addition to its secretariat – Robert O’Meara has been appointed to the newly created role of Communications Director.
ERT brings together CEOs and Chairs of Europe’s largest industrial companies, in support of a strong, open and competitive Europe. Through its 7 internal working groups, it produces studies and recommendations on issues such as competitiveness & innovation, trade & market access and jobs, skills & impact.

Robert has over 16 years’ experience in communications. He has previously worked for Microsoft, G.E. Capital and DG Science & Research at the European Commission among others. Immediately prior to joining ERT, he was Director of Media & Communications at the trade association for the European airport industry, ACI Europe.

Communication plays such an important role in the work we do – Robert will help us scale up our activities in this area and better communicate the value that industry brings to Europe – not just in terms of economic impact, but in many other ways as it contributes to society and the ways it can help address the challenges that Europe is facing.
I am excited to take on this new role at ERT. These are tumultuous times for international trade, for capitalism and the public’s expectations for a different response from the private sector to societal challenges such as energy transition, climate change and digital transformation. With Europe’s role on the world stage and the impact & implications of globalisation under the microscope like never before, this is a really interesting time to join ERT and I am looking forward to working with the team and the Members.
