ERT & DigitalEurope Joint Statement on the Data Act
In this joint statement ERT and DigitalEurope express their concerns about the current draft of the EU Data Act. In the rush to finalise the negotiations on the Data Act, the EU co-legislators risk needlessly undermining the competitiveness of European industry. The statement highlights that the Data Act should incentivise data-sharing between companies, but at the same time it must protect data holders’ fundamental interests. This includes trade secrets, cybersecurity, health, and safety, which are not sufficiently addressed in the provisions currently discussed by the co-legislators.
