Proposal for an ePrivacy Regulation
Call for a better alignment of the ePrivacy proposal with the GDPR
The reform of the current ePrivacy Directive, as one of the key initiatives of the Digital Single Market strategy, is of utmost importance for ERT Members.
We are however concerned about the very restrictive approach towards data taken in the proposed ePrivacy Regulation. In its present form, the ePrivacy proposal does not strike a careful balance between protecting privacy and facilitating innovative business models. It would prevent European businesses from offering innovative services, using data to improve customer experience and increasing consumer choice.
ERT Members call for a better alignment of the ePrivacy proposal with the GDPR, which would provide companies with the necessary flexibility to make use of their data in an innovative, accountable and responsible way and ensure a high level of privacy protection.
