Digital Single Market Working Group

The "digital economy" has become one of the top political priorities. Technological developments, such as the Internet of Things, bring new opportunities for growth, productivity and flexibility. This Working Group provides high-level recommendations from a wide industry perspective on how to enable such digitisation in a timely way.

The Working Group prepares ERT positions such as key aspects relating to policy issues at European and national levels, in particular:

  • Achieving the Digital Single Market, including facilitating data flows and tackling data protection
  • Improving connectivity, esp. investments in critical telecommunication infrastructures 
  • Addressing market structure issues, including market fragmentation in the EU and competition issues 
  • Developing entrepreneurship ecosystems and a strong start-up base
